Exchange students

International Student Office at the Faculty of Education

We handle all incoming and outgoing exchange students. If you would like to spend a semester or year abroad with us, you first need to find out if your university has an exchange agreement with our faculty or a general agreement with the University of Gothenburg.

Contact the international office at your home university, or find out if your university has a student exchange agreement with the Faculty of Education by going to this page. Select the Faculty of Education to see our agreements.

All applications must be done first to your home university, who then nominates you for an exchange with us. Check with the international office at your home university on how to apply.

Once we have received your nomination and you have been selected you can start your application with us.

Nomination and Application Process

  • You have to be nominated by your home university (). Ask your coordinator to e-mail your nomination letter to International Student Office Pedagogen at isop@ped.gu.se. Nomination deadline for autumn semester or full academic year May 1st, and for spring semester: November 1st.
  • You will get a Letter of Acceptance from us when you have been selected.
  • You will then receive information on how to apply for your exchange studies. Online application period for autumn semester or full academic year: April 1st -May 15th and for spring semester: October 1st -November 15th.
  • Please select your courses and include information about your selected courses in your on-line application.
  • Before arriving, your coordinator needs to send a learning agreement with the courses you have selected.
  • When we have agreed on the courses, we will make sure that you will be registered one week before the course starts (exchange students cannot register themselves)
  • About 1-2 weeks before your course starts you will receive more details from the course administrator.
