Research within the faculty concerns people and their everyday lives. Education, home and leisure time come together.

Research within the faculty is run in close connection to the courses offered concerning learning and education amongst children, youths and adults as well as all of the different types of schooling from early childhood to higher education.

Within the faculty there are several strong research environments which work toward increasing the dynamics between education, teaching and collaboration with society. Within the faculty there are several thriving research environments in the field of learning – a high profile area within research at the University of Gothenburg. These environments include LinCS (The Linnaeus Centre for Research on Learning, Interaction and Mediated Communication in Contemporary Society), FUR (Förutsättningar, Utbildning och Resultat) an abbreviation for Prerequisites, Education, and Outcomes, and Early Childhood Education.

National and international attention is also given educational research concerning schools’ organization and planning, instruction, individual development and learning. Even the interplay between individuals and their environment is a focus of study, as is special education and adult education.
